A Power Purchase Lease (PPL) may be the ideal financing structure for companies that don’t have an appetite for the Federal ITC or MACRS (tax credits or accelerated depreciation) or for Non-Profit organizations. A Pre -Paid Power Purchase Agreement (PPPA) may be the ideal financing structure for companies that have extra cash on hand but don’t have an appetite for the Federal ITC or MACRS (tax credits or accelerated depreciation) or for Non-Profit organizations.  Making a pre-payment on the PPA lowers the overall cost of the PPA and the saving are passed on to the electric offtaker.  The tax benefits of the PPPA are utilized by the investor and that value is passed back to the electric off-taker in the form predictable electric prices over a long term. The tax benefits of the Capital Lease are utilized by the lessee and that value can help reduce the projects costs.
FEATURES OF SOLAR CAPITAL LEASES:
 ~ Lease payments are fixed throughout the lease term
 ~ The effective interest rate is based on credit grade
 ~ Capital Leases are “on balance sheet” transactions for the Lessee
 ~ The Capital Lease contains a bargain purchase option to buy the equipment at less than fair market value.
 ~ The present value of the Capital Lease payments equals or exceeds 90% of the total original cost of the equipment.
